Covid-safe Date Ideas

Originally posted January 28, 2021

These past few months have made it difficult to connect with people you love. Even going on a date requires far more planning and calculation than before. Fortunately, Rochesterians are nothing if not adaptable! With Valentine's Day coming up, we thought we'd share our top 5 Covid-safe date ideas!

  1. A snowy hike through Letchworth

With 600 foot cliffs and breath-taking waterfalls, we’re lucky to have New York’s best winter hiking spots less than an hour away from downtown Rochester. There are over 66 miles of trails for hikers of all experience levels, and plenty of attractions beyond the scenic views. If hiking isn’t your cup of tea, or you’re looking for a weekend getaway, consider booking one of the many cozy cabins.

  2. Watch the elephants play in the snow at the Seneca Park Zoo
With enhanced Covid-19 measures, the Seneca Park Zoo is open!
It’s always amazing to see exotic animals right here in Rochester, even more so when visiting the zoo supports their care and conservation. You don’t know what you’re missing if you haven’t seen elephants play in the snow. Lilac is living her best life.

  3. Break Stuff at Smash Therapy!

As you might assume, we’re big fans of reducing stress through quiet, peaceful introspection. BUT SOMETIMES YOU JUST WANT TO SMASH STUFF, and that can be a healthy way to de-stress too! At Smash Therapy, you can bring your own items or purchase a box of pre-selected breakables (all recycled, of course.) To keep safe during Covid, they’ve reduced their capacity, limited rooms to two people, and thoroughly sanitize all items between customers. Did we mention you can hit broken printers with a sledgehammer? That's a thing.

  4. Bring home a Surprise Breakfast From Locals Only.

Locals Only somehow manages to be both one of Rochseter’s best spots for early-morning breakfasts AND late-night drinks. We can thoroughly recommend most things on their menu, but they’re known for their ‘Chef’s Choice’ menu item. After sharing any allergies you have, the kitchen magically creates a new dish just for you. It's different every time! The last time we ordered their ‘Chef’s Special’, they stacked pancakes and eggs to look like a turtle! It was almost too cute to eat (almost.) They are open for dine-in with limited capacity, but recommend ordering out, and getting your surprise to go! The only thing that beats breakfast in bed is a surprise breakfast in bed!

  5. Floating into Tranquility Together at Bodymind Float Center.

You may have seen this one coming…

Over the years, we’ve had thousands of couples visit us to schedule a Couple’s Float in one of our spacious ‘Cathedral’ open float pools. In addition to the benefits that a Solo Float offers, a Couple’s Float provides a quiet, serene environment to bond with your partner and de-stress together. Perfect to relax after a busy day, or prepare yourself for a night out on Park Ave!

There is nothing we take more seriously than the safety of our guests. Before there were any state mandates we had already begun modifying our facility and procedures for the safety of our customers. You can learn all about improved safety measures here. We’ve changed everything from our lobby to our sanitation schedule to assure Bodymind Float Center is nothing less than the safest place you can be outside your own home.

We hope you found our list useful. Did we miss your favorite? Let us know!
